Pacific Water Management Conducts Water Conservation Workshop for Spreckels Homeowners

In response to a recent increase in water rates, the Spreckels Water Company reached out to their customers on March 24th, sponsoring a landscape water conservation workshop. The workshop, attended by community residents, was conducted by Pacific Water Management’s Bob Costa. In his two hour presentation Costa shared a range of conservation strategies with the attendees and demonstrated a host of irrigation products designed to improve irrigation efficiency. “My goal was to help the residents better managed their outdoor water use” Costa said “and minimize the impact of the new rates”.

Pacific Water Management to Launch Pilot Program with Toro Precision Nozzles

In an effort to improve the water use efficiency of residential turf areas at the Cherrywood HOA in San Leandro, Pacific Water Management’s Bob Costa will be coordinating a pilot program with Toro’s new Precision Spray Nozzle. According to Costa, the objective of the program is to evaluate the performance of the nozzle and compare its water use to similar areas irrigated with Toro’s standard fixed spray nozzle .The goal of the nozzle retrofit is to improve the application uniformity, reduce runoff and save water. If the nozzle conversion proves to be successful, Costa intends to subsidize a portion of the cost through rebates provided by EBMUD.

Landscape Irrigation Class Returns to Monterey Peninsula College Next Fall

Pacific Water Managements Bob Costa, will be returning to the classroom next fall to instruct a sixteen week semester course on Landscape Irrigation. Costa, who has been a part time instructor at the college since 1992, says the class will focus on basic irrigation principles with an emphasis on designing efficient conventional and low volume irrigation systems. The course is scheduled to meet on Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.  For more information, visit the MPC website.

Pacific Water Management Introduces Workshop for Conservation Specialists

Continuing to foster its relationship water agencies, Pacific Water Management’s Bob Costa recently completed a two day training session, in Southern California, with California American Water Conservation Specialists. The workshop featured hands on training and included instruction on water conservation strategies, irrigation scheduling and the process used to conduct landscape water use evaluations.  

Cal-Am’s Northern California District Conservation Specialists will receive similar training in a two day session scheduled for April 3rd and 4th in Carmel.

Client Highlights – Monterey Peninsula Water Management District

In 2009, the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District awarded a contract to Pacific Water Management to conduct Landscape Irrigation Audits for selected residential and commercial properties. Over a two year period, the Pacific Water Management Staff completed nearly 100 comprehensive landscape audits, which included on-site water management training, as well as a detailed report containing a site water budget, list of water efficiency recommendations, weather based irrigation schedule and water savings summary.

Client Highlights – The Parks at Monterey Bay

Pacific Water Management’s involvement at The Parks at Monterey Bay residential communities is broad in scope. Working closely with the landscape contractors representatives, Pacific Water Management has developed a detailed water management action plan for each site, implemented a weather based irrigation schedule, coordinated system inspections and maintenance programs, provided input and guidance on the development of revised maintenance specifications and is currently involved with the local water district in a soil sensor pilot program.
